Florence rewards timed tickets and a slow walk across the Arno. One climb, one gallery, one terrace. That is a full stay.
Climb the Duomo
Brunelleschi’s dome is the skyline you came for. Book the climb. Giotto’s bell tower is the alternative if the dome is sold out. Shoulders covered if you enter the cathedral.
Give the Uffizi a morning
Botticelli first, then stop. Three hours is enough. Audio guides help. The queue without a ticket is how people waste Florence.
See David at the Accademia
The 5.17-metre marble is a different object in person. The Slaves are the unfinished counterpoint. A separate morning from the Uffizi.
Cross Ponte Vecchio to Oltrarno
The bridge is a walk. Dinner is on the other bank. Mercato Centrale’s first floor is the useful food hall if you want produce without a white tablecloth.
Piazzale Michelangelo at dusk
The postcard of the Duomo from above. Go for the light, not a second identikit gelato stall on the terrace.
