Seville is the soul of Andalucía: the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, a royal palace of Moorish courtyards, and flamenco that still belongs to Triana as much as to ticketed tablaos. Two nights covers the cathedral and the Alcázar. Three lets you add a flamenco evening that is not a package-tour hour. July and August regularly exceed 40°C — come in spring if you can.

Seville Travel Tips
Alcázar tickets, siesta hours, and surviving summer heat.
Cathedral and Real Alcázar
Seville Cathedral houses Columbus’s tomb and the Giralda bell tower — climb it for the city. Next door, the Real Alcázar is a UNESCO palace of stucco, tiles, and gardens that doubled as a Game of Thrones set. Book the Alcázar timed ticket; the cathedral is easier at opening. Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter, is the maze between the two.
Flamenco in Triana
Triana, across the Guadalquivir, is where many Sevillanos still place the origin of flamenco. An intimate tablao beats a dinner-show in a hotel. Pair it with tapas on the same bank. Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril are the two weeks when the city is a spectacle — book rooms a year ahead if those are the point.
Getting in and heat
AVE from Madrid takes about 2.5 hours. Córdoba is a short hop north if you are building an Andalucía circuit toward Granada. Summer afternoons are for museums and courtyards, not Santa Cruz at noon. Carry water. Start at opening.

Seville Travel FAQs
Two nights covers the cathedral, Alcázar, and one flamenco evening. Three nights is kinder in the heat and lets you walk Triana without rushing.
March–May (including Semana Santa and Feria de Abril if you book ahead) and September–November. July and August are extremely hot.
Yes in peak months. Timed tickets on the official site. The cathedral is more flexible but still better at opening.
Santa Cruz and the old town for walking to the monuments. Triana if you want the river and flamenco on your doorstep.
Córdoba is an easy day or overnight. Granada is better as its own two nights — the Alhambra is not a rushed day trip from Seville.
